Add an AI chatbot to ReadMe

Add CertifChat to your ReadMe docs by pasting one snippet into ReadMe's custom HTML settings. It answers developer and customer questions from your docs, your website and any files you add.

How to add CertifChat to ReadMe

ReadMe takes custom HTML in your project settings on plans that include it.

  1. Create a CertifChat account and add your ReadMe docs URL as a source. The crawler renders each page, so guides and reference pages are included.
  2. Copy your embed snippet from the Widget page in the dashboard.
  3. In ReadMe, open the admin settings for custom CSS, JavaScript and HTML, paste the snippet into the footer HTML field and save. Custom code is only included on some ReadMe plans, so check yours first.
  4. Add your docs domain to the allowed origins in CertifChat, then open your docs and ask a question.

Why teams use CertifChat with ReadMe

  • No plugin or app to install: the same short script runs on any ReadMe site.
  • Answers only from your pages, docs and files, and says so when your content doesn't cover a question.
  • Every question it couldn't answer is logged, so you know which page to write next.
  • Turn on hand-off and unsure questions reach your inbox with the visitor's email, ready for a reply.
  • The widget only loads on the domains you allow.
  • Prepaid credits with a monthly cap you set, so a busy month never becomes a surprise bill.
