Add an AI chatbot to Mintlify
You can add CertifChat to Mintlify docs with one .js file. Mintlify runs any .js file in your docs folder on every page, so readers can ask questions and get answers from your docs.
How to add CertifChat to Mintlify
Mintlify runs any .js file in your docs folder on every page, so one file is enough.
- Create a CertifChat account and add your Mintlify docs URL as a source. The crawler renders each page, so every doc is included.
- Copy your embed snippet from the Widget page in the dashboard and note your public key.
- In your docs folder (where docs.json or mint.json lives), create certifchat.js that adds your snippet as a module script, for example: const s = document.createElement('script'); s.type = 'module'; s.textContent = "import CertifChat from 'https://certifchat.com/widget/widget.js'; CertifChat.init({ key: 'cc_live_…' });"; document.body.appendChild(s);
- Add your docs domain to the allowed origins in CertifChat and push the change. The chat button appears on every page once Mintlify deploys.
Why teams use CertifChat with Mintlify
- No plugin or app to install: the same short script runs on any Mintlify site.
- Answers only from your pages, docs and files, and says so when your content doesn't cover a question.
- Every question it couldn't answer is logged, so you know which page to write next.
- Turn on hand-off and unsure questions reach your inbox with the visitor's email, ready for a reply.
- The widget only loads on the domains you allow.
- Prepaid credits with a monthly cap you set, so a busy month never becomes a surprise bill.
