Add an AI chatbot to Docusaurus
Yes, you can add an AI assistant to Docusaurus without a plugin or an Algolia account. Load one small script from docusaurus.config.js and CertifChat answers your readers' questions from your docs, on every page.
How to add CertifChat to Docusaurus
One file in static/ and one line in docusaurus.config.js.
- Create a CertifChat account and add your docs site as a source. The crawler renders each page and can read the sitemap.xml that Docusaurus generates, so every doc is included.
- In the dashboard, open Widget and copy your embed snippet. It is a short module script: an import line and an init() call with your public key.
- In your Docusaurus project, create static/certifchat.js and paste the two lines from inside the snippet's script tag.
- In docusaurus.config.js, add scripts: [{ src: '/certifchat.js', type: 'module' }]. If your docs don't live at the site root, put your baseUrl in front of the path.
- Add your docs domain to the allowed origins in CertifChat, then build and deploy. The chat button appears on every docs page.
Why teams use CertifChat with Docusaurus
- No plugin or app to install: the same short script runs on any Docusaurus site.
- Answers only from your pages, docs and files, and says so when your content doesn't cover a question.
- Every question it couldn't answer is logged, so you know which page to write next.
- Turn on hand-off and unsure questions reach your inbox with the visitor's email, ready for a reply.
- The widget only loads on the domains you allow.
- Prepaid credits with a monthly cap you set, so a busy month never becomes a surprise bill.
